The Nvidia Shield (2019) has a higher price tag than most basic 4K HDR media players. But thanks to the advanced AI upscaling, it is a very powerful media player with support for HDR10 and Dolby Vision. It also comes with the new, more user-friendly Shield remote. You also get the latest version of Android TV, which acts as a portal to Nvidia's game streaming service - Geforce Now.
What really sets it apart from the competition is Nvidia's new AI upscaling technology. Powered by a neural network "trained" through thousands of hours of content, it can greatly improve viewing quality. This makes HD content from the last 20 years look like it was recently produced with a 4K camera. This is truly impressive.
It still has some limitations, such as a lack of support for Apple TV and a higher price than a Roku Streaming Stick. But it is really worth the money.

Google's Chromecast with Google TV (2020) is an upgrade to an already good technology. This is due to the remote control and Google's "new" software, Google TV.
Together, the two provide a significantly improved user experience compared to previous Chromecast models that required you to use your mobile phone or tablet to cast content instead of interacting via the screen.
Now Google has added a separate TV interface that is controlled with a remote control. You get instant access to the main streaming services, including Disney+, HBO Max and even the Amazon Prime Video streaming app. In addition, it has a number of apps carried over from Android TV, the predecessor of Google TV, which provide access to games and productivity programs.

In the 2019 version of the Cube, the processor upgrade and the integration of Dolby Vision are fantastic news. Despite some drawbacks, they help strengthen the Fire TV Cube's position among the best media players at the moment.
Technically, you can do everything the Fire TV Cube can do with the Amazon Echo Dot or Amazon Fire TV Stick 4K, but the six-core processor in the Cube works faster and provides a smoother experience with fewer annoyances.
